Tensions between the US and Iran escalated, derailing peace efforts and leading to intense missile exchanges in the Middle East. The conflict resulted in over 30 fatalities and numerous injuries from US strikes targeting civilian infrastructure in a bid to end disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. In response to recent attacks on international ships in the region, the US launched a series of airstrikes on Sirik and Bandar Abbas.
The US Central Command stated that its operations aimed to diminish Iran’s capacity to disrupt commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Following the attacks, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targeted several countries, including Jordan, Kuwait, and Bahrain. Bahrain’s defense ministry reported intercepting and neutralizing Iranian air strikes. Additionally, Iran’s IRGC claimed to have struck US military installations in Bahrain and Jordan using Kamikaze drones.
Iran has conducted multiple drone assaults on US military bases in the Gulf region since hostilities resumed. The US has deployed two aircraft carriers and 19 battleships in the Arabian Sea, prepared for further offensives. President Trump issued warnings of intensified strikes on Iran’s infrastructure unless the regime agrees to peace negotiations.
Iran criticized the UK’s decision to label the IRGC as a terrorist organization, threatening political and diplomatic repercussions. Iran condemned the move as unjust and irresponsible, accusing the UK of unfounded security claims. The country asserted its right to retaliate under international law against what it deemed as inappropriate action by the UK.
