A 16-year-old teenager has confessed to pushing his 13-year-old former girlfriend off a seventh-floor balcony in Italy, leading to her death. The boy, who was 15 at the time of the incident, admitted to the murder of Aurora Tila during a video link from a juvenile prison while appealing a 17-year prison sentence.
Initially, the teenager had falsely claimed that Aurora had taken her own life, but he eventually apologized for the killing and for delaying his confession. The appeal hearing has been postponed until September as the court reviews the case.
Prosecutors revealed that the pair had a troubled relationship marked by the boy’s possessive behavior, which ultimately led to their separation. Messages uncovered by investigators showed that Aurora felt harassed by her ex-boyfriend, even seeking advice on how to handle the situation.
Witnesses reported seeing Aurora clinging to the balcony railing while the teenager struck her hands, causing her to fall. During the trial, a former cellmate testified that the teenager had admitted to pushing Aurora. The court convicted him of murder, considering aggravating factors such as stalking, the victim’s age, and their past relationship.
After the confession, Aurora’s family lawyer expressed hope that the court would uphold the sentence imposed. Aurora’s older sister, Viktoria, rejected claims that Aurora had taken her own life, stating that Aurora had feared her ex-boyfriend.
The appeal proceedings are set to continue on September 10 while the court awaits a behavioral report on the teenager.
