As the UK braces for another heatwave, train services are being impacted with cancellations and reduced speeds. The Met Office has issued warnings of temperatures exceeding 35C, urging customers to travel only if necessary.

To mitigate the effects of extreme heat, East Midlands Railway (EMR) advises travelers to plan journeys before midday to avoid peak temperatures. Some regional EMR services will be suspended from Wednesday noon, while others will operate at lower speeds as a safety precaution.

The scorching weather poses risks to railway infrastructure, such as rails buckling and overhead wires sagging. EMR’s customer experience director, Philippa Cresswell, emphasized the need for temporary service adjustments to ensure passenger safety.

Travelers planning to use EMR services on Thursday and Friday are advised to stay updated on potential schedule changes. EMR continues to monitor the situation to provide timely updates for its customers.
