CCTV footage captured the final moments of a woman walking out of sight with a suspected double murderer, according to testimony in court. Simon Levy, aged 40, was observed on CCTV entering a secluded area in a B&M car park in High Road, Tottenham, with Sheryl Wilkins, aged 39, on August 24 of the previous year, as detailed at the Old Bailey on Tuesday.
Earlier recordings showed the encounter between Ms. Wilkins and her alleged assailant as he disembarked a 149 bus and trailed her past a bus stop. The footage depicted Ms. Wilkins in a crop top while the defendant, with his hood up, walked alongside her moments before they halted outside the B&M car park.
The last sighting of Ms. Wilkins alive was as she moved out of the camera’s view shortly before 1am. Allegations have arisen that Levy subsequently suffocated her in what is suspected to be a sexually motivated homicide, a claim he refutes.
Approximately 45 minutes following the last sighting of Ms. Wilkins, Levy was seen adjusting his hood and donning sunglasses due to his partial sight, before re-emerging. He then ventured out to the adjacent pavement, surveyed the surroundings, and upon his return behind the wall, glanced over his shoulder. Later, he emerged once more, retracing his steps back to his residence on Beaufoy Road, arriving at around 2am.
In the timeframe during and after the alleged crime, multiple vehicles were witnessed turning around in the car park, and an unidentified individual was observed walking near the wall, yet Ms. Wilkins’ presence remained concealed.
Subsequently, around 6:30am on the same morning, two plainclothes police officers arrived at the scene, discovering Ms. Wilkins. Graphic footage of the body’s recovery was presented to the jury.
Boray Is was spotted driving a grey BMW car on CCTV as he executed a U-turn in the B&M car park at 1:45am. Mr. Is disclosed that he had dropped off his mother at the airport and was en route to his uncle’s residence in Enfield. When asked about what he saw behind the car park wall, Mr. Is mentioned seeing a male figure on the ground, initially assuming he was homeless due to his seated posture and an object underneath him.
The ongoing trial at the Old Bailey pertains to Levy’s alleged involvement in the murders of both Ms. Wilkins and another woman, Carmenza Valencia-Trujillo, aged 53, under similar circumstances occurring five months apart last year. Prosecutors have accused Levy of being a serial predator who lured the women with payment for sexual activities before committing the crimes, charges he denies. Additionally, Levy faces accusations of sexually assaulting a third woman in January of the same year, with prior convictions for sexual offenses, six of which transpired within the same period.
The court previously heard that upon the discovery of Ms. Wilkins’ body, officers initially speculated it might be linked to the alleged victim of the January assault, purportedly occurring behind the same wall where she was located.
The trial at the Old Bailey remains ongoing.
