An England supporter has gone missing while en route to the USA for the World Cup, prompting his family to issue a plea for assistance in locating him. Michael Hewitt, also known as “Little Mick” among his friends, departed from Leeds on June 20 to travel to Boston for the Three Lions’ matches but lost contact with his loved ones during a layover in Barcelona, Spain.
Concerns arose when it was discovered that Mr. Hewitt never reached his intended destination in America. His brother, Mike Wakefield, disclosed that the last communication from Michael was during his stopover in Barcelona, as detailed by NeedToKnow.
Since June 21, Mr. Hewitt’s phone has been inactive, and there has been no activity on his social media accounts. Wakefield stated, “On June 20th, Mick left Leeds for Boston, USA to attend an England World Cup game, transiting through Barcelona. He seems to have not made it to Boston, and our last contact was from Barcelona early on June 21st. His phone has since been unresponsive, and there have been no social media updates. We are deeply concerned for his well-being.”
The family has reported Mr. Hewitt missing, and a case has been initiated with the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office under reference number 02470905. Interpol has been notified as efforts are made to determine if he proceeded beyond Spain.
Authorities are conducting an investigation under case reference 20260628/1183. Wakefield described Michael as ‘Little Mick,’ a familiar face within the Leeds United community who has supported the club both at home and away for many years.
He urged anyone who has seen or had contact with Mick since June 21 to reach out to them or the FCDO. Thank you for any assistance provided.
