New reports suggest that new witnesses could hold crucial evidence in the murder case involving a British influencer in the United Arab Emirates. Brooke George, a 23-year-old from Gravesend in Kent, remains in custody in Dubai facing murder charges following the death of William Treeby, 26, in an apartment altercation last week. If convicted, Brooke could potentially face the death penalty by firing squad.
Brooke claims she acted in self-defense after an alleged attack. A campaign group called Detained in Dubai has provided what they deem as pertinent information and intelligence to authorities in the UK and UAE. According to The Sun, five individuals, including Brooke, William, two of his friends, and a maid, were present at the apartment during the fatal stabbing. It is believed that one of the friends contacted people in the UK shortly after the incident, prompting campaigners to stress the importance of investigating these calls and any data on the men’s phones to establish a timeline of events and locate additional witnesses.
William was scheduled to stand trial at Maidstone Crown Court for conspiracy to supply cocaine, part of an investigation by Kent Police’s County Lines and Gangs Team. The Sun also reported his previous convictions for unlawful wounding and common assault, resulting in a suspended prison sentence.
Detained in Dubai’s chief executive, Radha Stirling, emphasized the submission of intelligence to various authorities to ensure all relevant information is reviewed thoroughly. Stirling highlighted the need for a comprehensive investigation, especially considering the potential consequences Brooke George faces, including engaging with Brooke’s local Member of Parliament in Kent for support.
Campaigners are urging interviews with individuals in the UK who received calls from the apartment after William’s death and the preservation of any mobile phone evidence before it could be lost. Stirling stressed the importance of a meticulous investigation, stating that nothing less should be acceptable when a person’s life is at risk.
