A 15-year-old teenager was taken into custody for reportedly kidnapping a 17-year-old girl outside her school in the southern part of Melbourne. The incident occurred as the girl was entering Keysborough Secondary College’s Banksia Campus in Springvale South around 8:30 am on Friday. Allegedly, the boy coerced the girl into a vehicle, which then left the area, according to a police statement.
Authorities promptly responded to the situation, leading to the arrest of the 15-year-old boy in Wyndham, located about an hour’s drive from the school, at approximately midday. He has been formally charged with abduction and is scheduled to appear in court on Saturday. The motive behind the purported abduction remains unclear.
Following the incident, the girl was admitted to the hospital in stable condition. Police suspect that there is a preexisting connection between the two individuals. An official from the Victoria Police department mentioned, “Detectives from the Armed Crime Squad have pressed charges against a teenage boy in connection with an alleged abduction in Springvale South yesterday. It is suggested that a 17-year-old girl was accosted by a male while entering a secondary college on Janine Road around 8:30 am.”
“The male reportedly compelled the girl into a vehicle that fled the scene. Later on, officers from the Special Operations Group apprehended the 15-year-old boy from the Wyndham area on Jezebel Way in Tarneit at noon,” the spokesperson added. “The girl received medical attention at the hospital. The boy has been formally accused of abduction and is due to make a court appearance later today. It is believed that the individuals had prior acquaintanceship.”
