US President Donald Trump has unveiled a new limited-edition US passport featuring his image and signature, in a move seen as another display of his ego.
The US State Department had announced the issuance of these special passports to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence. Trump recently disclosed the design of the passport, along with a cautionary message.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump shared images of the passport, which includes the phrase “Welcome, but be good! President DJT.” The exact placement of the message in the passport is not specified.
The sample pages revealed Trump’s portrait overlooking his Oval Office desk, with the backdrop of the original Declaration of Independence and his signature. An earlier version of the passport featured a different image of Trump with the US flag in the background.
One of the pages showcases John Trumbull’s painting “The Declaration of Independence” with the text “United States of America 250” below. This special passport was introduced in April as part of the country’s 250th-anniversary festivities.
The commemorative passport was initially described as a limited edition to mark America’s 250th anniversary, featuring custom artwork on the covers and inside pages.
Reportedly available to all American citizens during the rollout, the passport can be obtained at the Washington Passport Agency while supplies last.
These unique passports are just one aspect of Trump’s unconventional approach to celebrating the 250th anniversary. Recently, a UFC fight was hosted on the White House South Lawn as part of the festivities.
At this event, which also served as a celebration of Trump’s 80th birthday, around 4,300 attendees witnessed the matches, including notable figures like boxer Tyson Fury and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
The 250th-anniversary celebrations continue with more unconventional events planned by the Trump administration. An Indycar grand prix is set to take place in Washington in August, along with a claim from Trump about hosting the world’s largest fireworks display on the Fourth of July.
