Police are seeking assistance in identifying a man captured in an image following an alleged sexual assault on a crowded London Underground Tube carriage. British Transport Police have released a photo of the individual they wish to interview in connection with the incident that occurred on a Northern Line service heading towards Tufnell Park in North London.
The assault reportedly took place when a woman boarded the train during rush hour around 5:30 pm on Thursday, April 23. Standing near the doors, she was allegedly sexually assaulted before the perpetrator disembarked at Tufnell Park Underground station.
A spokesperson from the British Transport Police issued a statement, stating, “Detectives investigating a sexual assault on board a Northern Line Underground train towards Tufnell Park are today releasing this image in connection.”
The statement continued, “At around 5:30 pm on Thursday, April 23, a woman boarded a Northern Line train and stood by the door. She was then sexually assaulted by a man who got off the train at Tufnell Park Underground station. Detectives would like to speak to the man pictured, as they believed he may have information that could help their investigation.”
Individuals who can identify the man in the image are urged to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 491 of April 23. Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
