A man who was restrained during a flight from Cyprus to Manchester has passed away. Callum Kerr was onboard a Jet2 flight from Larnaca to Manchester on June 21 with his girlfriend when he reportedly became disruptive and aggressive after consuming a significant amount of alcohol. Fellow passengers restrained him, and upon landing, officers found him unresponsive.
Mr. Kerr, in his 30s, has since died. Police responded to reports of an assault on the flight upon its arrival at Manchester Airport on June 22. Video footage circulating online shows officers boarding the plane and discovering Mr. Kerr, a bareknuckle boxer, in distress. Immediate CPR was administered by officers, who also requested a defibrillator before he was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Tributes on social media mourned the loss of the father, with messages like “RIP Callum Kerr wtf” and “God bless mate we’ll catch up again.” An investigation is now underway following the incident. Greater Manchester Police confirmed that they are looking into the situation after reports of disruptive behavior towards passengers and crew on the flight to Manchester Airport.
Jet2 stated that flight LS966 from Larnaca to Manchester had to make a priority landing due to a disruptive passenger incident. The airline confirmed that the passenger was hospitalized and refrained from commenting further due to the ongoing investigation.
