“Murder Charges Filed in Tragic Infant Death Case”

Two individuals are facing murder charges in connection with the tragic death of an eight-week-old infant in Lincolnshire. The accused, Lauren Murgatroyd, 26, residing in Novak Place, Morecambe, and Liam Neve, 26, living in Spinney Close, Grimoldby, Louth, have been formally charged after an extensive investigation conducted by the police.

The incident occurred on October 31, 2023, at a residence in Bourne, Lincolnshire, where authorities responded to find the infant in critical condition. Despite being rushed to the hospital, the baby succumbed to the injuries.

Authorities from Lincolnshire Police confirmed the murder charges against both Murgatroyd and Neve on the evening of June 23, along with additional criminal allegations. Murgatroyd is also accused of making a false statement related to birth, as well as charges of causing or allowing a child’s death, two counts of severe bodily harm, and two counts of causing or permitting serious physical harm to a child.

Neve is facing similar charges, including two counts of ABH. Both defendants are scheduled to appear at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court today, June 24, as reported by LancashireLive.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy McWatt of the Major Crime Unit expressed concern for those affected by the tragic incident, highlighting the extensive investigative efforts carried out since 2023. He emphasized the complexity of the case and the commitment to seeking justice for the deceased infant.

A statement issued by Lincolnshire Police on June 23, 2026, confirmed the murder charges against Neve and Murgatroyd, stemming from the 2023 incident involving the eight-week-old baby in Bourne.
