A tragic incident occurred in north-east Spain where a 63-year-old British man lost his life in a paragliding accident. The unfortunate event took place around 1:20 pm local time when the man got entangled in power lines. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, including firefighters and paramedics, the man succumbed to his critical injuries at the scene.
The incident unfolded near Palau de Noguera, a small historic village close to Tremp in the Catalan province of Lleida. It remains unclear whether the British man resided in Spain or was on a holiday trip that involved paragliding.
Authorities are conducting an investigation into the accident, although initial indications suggest that the man’s death was accidental. This fatality comes shortly after another paragliding tragedy in the same province involving a 68-year-old individual.
A spokesperson for the regional Generalitat government provided details of the response to the incident, stating that firefighters and medical teams were dispatched promptly upon receiving the emergency call. Despite their efforts, the British man could not be saved.
In a separate incident in Portugal, a British man lost his life in a paragliding accident near Lisbon after crashing near a scenic spot. Despite medical intervention, the victim passed away at the scene.
The accident occurred in Vale Bom, near the Montejunto Mountains, an hour north of Lisbon, renowned for its natural beauty and wine production.
