Lauren and James Portwood, avid fans of the England football team, are currently in Texas on their honeymoon, showing their support for the Three Lions.

The couple, who tied the knot recently, made a decision to travel to the United States to cheer on Thomas Tuchel’s squad, as they had been planning this special trip since getting engaged in 2024. Expressing her excitement, Lauren mentioned that an England victory would be the perfect wedding gift, while James anticipated a memorable few days ahead.

James, a 36-year-old accountant, and his 41-year-old wife Lauren, who works in customer services, are both loyal supporters of Leicester City. They reside in West Bridgford, Notts, and are parents to four children: Lexi (17), Elise (16), Teddy (6), and Charlie (3).

While this is Lauren’s inaugural World Cup experience, it marks James’ third tournament attendance. The couple shared their plans of returning to England should the team reach the final, as they already secured tickets at face value. Following the match, they intend to spend a few days in Las Vegas before heading back home.

Reflecting on their journey, James recalled their 2016 meeting when they vowed to visit the United States, adding a light-hearted comment from Lauren about it being a strategic decision.

The couple exchanged vows at Makeney Hall in Derbyshire on June 3, coinciding with England’s massive fan base of 10,000 supporters traveling to the event. Additionally, thousands of expatriates are expected to grace the Dallas Cowboys stadium to create an atmosphere akin to England’s home stadium, Wembley.

England enthusiasts have been arriving in Dallas through various modes of transportation, with Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressing optimism about the team’s prospects. He commended the squad’s talent and experience, urging them to secure victory and bring home the coveted second star.

Away from the football action, a heartwarming anecdote emerged about David Beckham’s humble beginnings in Texas, where he kickstarted his illustrious career. During a week-long stay in Dallas at the age of 13, Beckham formed lasting memories with a Mexican-American woman who affectionately called him ‘Little Davie.’

It was in Texas that Beckham signed his initial autographs while on a football exchange trip, leaving a lasting impression on the hosts, who still possess the scarves he autographed. Despite his meteoric rise in football, Beckham’s host from that week fondly remembers him as ‘Little Davie.’
