Young Male Cyclist Fatally Struck by Lorry in Co. Waterford

A young male cyclist tragically lost his life in a collision in Co Waterford, according to authorities.

The incident occurred in Ballygalane, Lismore, after 11 am on Tuesday, involving a stationary lorry.

Police are seeking witnesses to the incident, where the cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The coroner has been informed, and a post-mortem examination is scheduled at University Hospital Waterford.

Fortunately, the male lorry driver emerged unharmed from the collision.

The road was temporarily sealed off for investigation by Garda forensic collision experts but has since been reopened.

Gardai issued a plea for witnesses in connection with the fatal road accident in Ballygalane, Lismore, Co. Waterford, on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.

The collision, between a parked lorry and a cyclist, occurred shortly after 11:00 am, resulting in the tragic death of a young male cyclist at the scene. His body has been taken to the University Hospital Waterford mortuary for further examination.

The coroner has been notified, and the lorry driver was unharmed.

Motorists with camera footage, including dash-cam, who were on the N72 between Lismore and Cappoquin, Co. Waterford, between 10:30 am and 11:15 am on June 16, 2026, are urged to share it with the investigating authorities.
