Prince George is set to enroll at Eton College in September, continuing the family tradition. The 12-year-old, who is currently finishing his final term at Lambrook School, will embark on his secondary education at the prestigious all-boys school in the upcoming academic year. Eton College, located just a short drive from the Wales’ residence on the Windsor estate, charges an annual fee of £63,000.

A statement from Prince William and Kate Middleton’s office confirmed Prince George’s admission to Eton College, but it did not specify whether he would be a boarding student. The young royal will be following in the footsteps of his father Prince William and uncle Prince Harry, both of whom attended Eton. Prince William, who attended the school from 1995 to 2000 and boarded at Manor House, had a positive experience and excelled in academics and sports.

In contrast, Prince Harry, who attended Eton from 1998 to 2003, openly discussed his struggles at the school. He credited his involvement in sports like rugby, football, cricket, and polo for keeping him engaged and preventing him from leaving school prematurely. Reflecting on his time at Eton in his memoir, Harry described the initial challenges he faced and the importance of sports in his school life.

Besides Prince William and Prince Harry, Eton College has been attended by numerous members of the British royal family, including Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, and Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester. Additionally, the school boasts a list of notable alumni, including British prime ministers and renowned personalities like Eddie Redmayne and Tom Hiddleston.

The decision for Prince George to attend Eton College concludes months of speculation about his future education. While other schools were considered, including Marlborough College and Oundle School, the royal family has confirmed Eton as his choice for secondary education. Prince George, who recently made a public appearance at Trooping the Colour, is poised to begin his academic journey at the renowned institution.
