Neil McKnight, a devoted fan, is embarking on a 70-hour journey to the United States to catch a World Cup group match, albeit on a TV screen. Hailing from London, Neil’s destination is Miami, where he plans to watch the Brazil vs. Scotland game from afar. This trip marks his first venture abroad to support the Scottish team, a dream nurtured since the 1978 World Cup in Argentina.

Following Scotland’s recent victory against Haiti, Neil is determined to witness their potential advancement to the knockout stages. Despite the hefty price tag exceeding £1000 and the unlikelihood of securing a ticket, Neil remains resolute in his decision. Describing his motivation, the Ayr United enthusiast expressed his eagerness to join the Tartan Army at the prestigious event.

Opting for a cost-effective approach, Neil has arranged accommodation through AirBnB in Little Havana, Miami. To cut expenses, he has opted for a connecting flight back to London via Charlotte rather than a direct route. Aged 62 and currently residing in Sawbridgeworth, Herts, Neil’s passion for football dates back to his early experiences attending Ayr United and Scotland matches.

While his friend Andy Clayden humorously remarked on the extensive journey and expenses involved, Neil remains undeterred in his quest to witness the Brazil vs. Scotland game. Scotland’s group opponents include Haiti, Morocco, and Brazil, marking their first World Cup appearance since France in 1998. The tournament kicked off with the opening ceremony in Mexico City, with the final scheduled in East Rutherford near New York on July 19th.
