Complaints arose regarding the bright lights emanating from the White House lawn and Ellipse park, causing distraction to airline pilots approaching the nearby Ronald Reagan National Airport.
The airport’s decision to halt all flights may have been triggered by a stunt where a parachute team descended with an American flag near the Washington Monument. The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the grounding of flights at Reagan Airport due to a “special event or air show,” triggered by the stunt. During the incident, Trump was returning from a golf outing and MAGA supporter dinner at Trump National Golf Club, Virginia.
