The renowned Red Arrows are gearing up to illuminate the skies of the UK this weekend to commemorate Trooping the Colour, a significant regal event known as The Birthday Parade, which honors the monarch’s official birthday in June and has been a longstanding tradition for centuries.
The procession of the sovereign will unfold at London’s Horse Guards Parade on Saturday, attracting a multitude of royal enthusiasts along the Mall. The RAF Aerobatic Team is all set to dazzle spectators with their extraordinary aerobatic maneuvers as the iconic jets join in the festivities.
Pilots are set to navigate their aircraft over extensive stretches of land, culminating in a flypast over Buckingham Palace around 1pm. The remarkable aerial exhibition will assemble outside the city before embarking on their journey. The jets will depart from RAF Waddington, fly south towards Little Hale, then turn eastward, passing over Boston, and along the Norfolk and Suffolk coast.
Subsequently, the aircraft will maintain a holding pattern as they head west towards the city. By noon, the jets will soar over Ipswich, Colchester, Chelmsford, and Reading. The flypast will grace north-west London just before 1pm as they progress towards the heart of the capital for the grand event.
Exiting London, the planes will traverse Hounslow and Feltham before veering north over Windsor and Slough. The flight path continues in a straight trajectory until reaching Northampton, where a minor adjustment will redirect them towards Colsterworth.
Trooping the Colour, an annual affair that has symbolized the official birthday of the reigning monarch for over 260 years, showcases a spectacle involving a multitude of horses and soldiers executing intricate battlefield drill maneuvers to the tune of military music.
During the procession, members of the Royal Family traditionally journey from Buckingham Palace down The Mall to Horse Guards Parade in a procession by horseback or carriages. At Horse Guards, they observe the military display before retracing their steps back to Buckingham Palace.
Following the parade, the royals convene on the Palace balcony for a march-past and the anticipated fly-past by the RAF, featuring the Red Arrows, concluding the day’s revelries.
The Military Airshow website has disclosed the precise flight path the Red Arrows will follow for the Trooping the Colour flypast on June 13, along with an accompanying map detailing the various viewing locations and anticipated timings.
Attendees anticipate the presence of prominent young royals Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis at the event. Notably, the balcony attendance has been restricted to working royals since 2024, excluding figures such as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Prince Harry.
