Donald Trump reportedly criticized Benjamin Netanyahu in a heated phone call over Israel’s strikes on Lebanon, using strong language to express his displeasure. According to a US official, Trump claimed credit for preventing Netanyahu from facing legal consequences, while accusing him of causing Israel to be disliked.

Earlier, Trump stated that he intervened to prevent further hostilities in the region after Iran’s threats against Israel. Following discussions with Netanyahu and Hezbollah leaders, he stated that Israeli troops headed to Beirut had been redirected.

France’s foreign minister condemned the presence of Israeli troops deep inside Lebanon, stating that it could not be justified. Meanwhile, clashes between Israel and Hezbollah persisted despite an announced ceasefire.

In Israel, tens of thousands of ultra-Orthodox protesters demonstrated against mandatory military conscription, leading to disruptions in transportation and road closures. The exemption of ultra-Orthodox individuals from military service has sparked controversy in Israel, with many questioning the fairness of the system.

The political turmoil over military service exemptions for ultra-Orthodox men has strained Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s coalition, potentially prompting early elections. Additionally, Lebanon reported an Israeli strike near a hospital in Tyre, causing significant damage.

In another development, Trump engaged in discussions with Israeli and Hezbollah representatives to ease tensions. He mentioned on social media platform Truth Social that troops bound for Beirut had been halted and that Hezbollah agreed not to attack Israel if unprovoked.

Trump also addressed ongoing negotiations with Iran, expressing optimism about reaching an agreement soon. However, escalating conflicts in the region, including strikes and retaliatory actions, continue to pose challenges to stability.
