UK households relying on Freeview for TV entertainment are advised to check their equipment and perform a quick retune due to recent channel changes. Freeview has announced updates from broadcasters taking effect on May 20, 2026, prompting viewers to retune their devices to ensure access to updated channels and TV guides.

Among the changes, two channels have been rebranded: Hobbycraft TV on channel 97 is now known as Shop Unlimited, and Great! Romance Mix on channel 61 has been replaced by Great! TV +1. Additionally, there have been adjustments to channel numbers, with Great! Movies moving from channel 61 to channel 62, and Great! TV +1 now occupying channel 61.

Freeview emphasized the continuous evolution of channels by individual providers, highlighting the platform’s efforts to offer diverse and engaging content. Viewers experiencing issues with the updates not reflecting on their TVs are encouraged to manually retune their devices.

To retune a TV, users should follow these steps:
– Press the menu button on the TV or set-top box remote
– Select options like “set-up,” “installation,” or “update”
– Input common passwords like “1234” or “0000” if required
– Choose “first-time installation,” “factory reset,” or similar options
– Confirm deletion of existing channels if prompted
– The retune process should initiate automatically
– Save any newly found channels during the scan
