Multiple individuals sustained injuries following a collision between two trams that led to their derailment in Germany. The incident occurred before noon on Thursday in the Linden-Süd district of Hanover, prompting a significant emergency response involving firefighters, paramedics, and law enforcement.
The impact of the collision caused both trams to derail, with one tram carriages thrown onto an elevated platform, causing structural damage. Responders quickly arrived at the scene after the incident was designated a mass casualty event, initiating a large-scale rescue operation.
Approximately 20 passengers remained on one of the trams post-crash, but authorities confirmed that no one was trapped inside. Firefighters created temporary exits to facilitate passenger evacuation, while paramedics provided on-site treatment to the injured.
A total of twelve individuals sustained injuries in the collision, with seven passengers transported to hospitals in Hanover for further evaluation. Fortunately, the two tram drivers emerged unscathed from the incident.
