Lieutenant Colonel Jonny Thompson, a loyal equerry to King Charles who is often seen in a kilt, has delighted many with unexpected baby news. The recent revelation discloses that Jonny and his wife Olivia celebrated the arrival of their daughter last week. The pair tied the knot in a modest ceremony last year and are described by friends as a well-suited and joyful couple.
Jonny, who serves in the 5th Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland, was previously married to Caroline, with whom he shares a son. Following their separation years ago, he found love with Olivia, a PR executive and the daughter of the late Queen’s former communications secretary, Simon Lewis. The birth announcement in The Times introduced their newborn daughter, Theodora.
As an equerry to the King, Jonny has been a constant presence since Charles’ reign began, participating in significant events such as the late Queen’s funeral and the King’s state visit to the US with Camilla, where they met Donald Trump. Notably, he has also engaged with other notable figures like Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak during various royal events.
Apart from his official duties, Jonny has garnered a following online and even caught the eye of Tatler magazine for his impeccable style. Alongside Lieutenant Commander Will Thornton, the King can also rely on deputies Captain Hugh Scrope and Captain Kat Anderson for support.
