A male suspect has been formally charged following an attack on an emergency room doctor during the night shift at a hospital in London. The doctor, aged in his 50s, sustained multiple stab wounds while on duty at Hillingdon Hospital in the western part of the city.

Emergency medical personnel provided initial treatment to the doctor at the hospital located on Pield Heath Road. Subsequently, he was transferred to a specialized trauma center for further medical attention. The Metropolitan Police took the suspect into custody following the incident, which occurred while officers were already present at the hospital premises dealing with another matter.

The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Mahdi Abdullahi from Pield Heath Road in Hillingdon, was charged with causing serious bodily harm with intent. Abdullahi was also accused of possessing a dangerous weapon and stealing knives. He appeared before magistrates in Uxbridge and has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance scheduled for Friday.

A representative from the Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust expressed continued support for their staff, condemning any form of violence or aggression as unacceptable.
