A serious collision has led to the closure of a significant stretch of the M25 in Hertfordshire, causing extensive traffic delays on the motorway tonight.

The anti-clockwise direction between junctions J23 (A1M, South Mimms) and J22 (St Albans) has been shut down, as confirmed by National Highways.

Emergency services, including Hertfordshire Police, are currently on the scene, with National Highways Traffic Officers assisting in managing the traffic flow.

Following a “serious” crash involving a motorcycle, the M25 closure is still in effect, with Hertfordshire Police and East England Ambulance Service present at the site.

Drivers are encountering hour-long delays as they approach the closure at J23, with a 6-mile queue forming.

Motorists are advised to anticipate delays, consider alternative routes, or postpone their journeys to navigate the situation effectively.

The closure of the M25 section between South Mimms and St Albans remains in place, with National Highways cautioning drivers to expect delays in the area.
