A devoted son tragically ended his life by jumping off a cliff in Cornwall following family rejection of his homosexuality, an inquiry revealed. Fabio Pedranzini, described as “lovely and kind,” was reported missing by his partner, Mark Riley, after disappearing from their holiday caravan in Upton Towans near Gwithian, Hayle.
Fabio, a senior figure at Fujitsu overseeing 300 individuals, was found deceased at the base of a cove in Cornwall, where his belongings were discovered two days after his disappearance on March 21, 2025. Emergency personnel located his body following a multi-agency search prompted by a police drone sighting near where his Apple Watch had last indicated his location.
During the inquiry in Truro, Mark Riley shared that Fabio had recently come out as gay to his family, causing strain in their relationship. Despite Fabio’s attempts to mend things with his family, they rejected his sexuality, leading to feelings of isolation and distress for Fabio.
His family highlighted Fabio’s generous and caring nature, emphasizing his dedication to his profession and his enjoyment of cooking, wine, and design. Concerns arose within Fabio’s Italian relatives about his changing behavior and emotional well-being, with the family acknowledging his struggle with loneliness and a desire to reconcile with people from his past.
The coroner’s report concluded that Fabio’s death was a result of a fall from a height, with no evidence of foul play. The inquiry indicated that Fabio had been under immense stress, with his last phone call to Mark Riley minutes before his passing. The coroner inferred that Fabio took his own life shortly after the call.
