Three sisters who tragically lost their lives in the Brighton beach incident have been identified by the authorities. The victims, Jane Adetoro aged 36, Christina Walter aged 32, and Rebecca Walters aged 31, all from Uxbridge, London, were found in distress in the English Channel early in the morning of May 13, leading to their untimely demise at the scene.

Investigations suggest that one of the sisters may have wandered too far into the water, possibly losing their footing due to the unstable shingle beneath. Coastguards suspect that the women were swept away from the shore after slipping off the coastal shelf.

Local residents in Brighton have highlighted the sudden drop in seabed depth not far from the shore, cautioning visitors about the potential dangers of venturing too deep into the water. Particularly around the Palace Pier area, where the shingle is steepest, warnings are regularly issued to ensure visitor safety.

In a heartfelt tribute, the girls’ father, Joseph, expressed the deep sorrow of losing his three daughters prematurely, emphasizing the irreplaceable bond they shared and the lasting memories they created together. He described their presence as a source of joy and strength within the family.

Chief Superintendent Adam Hays, Divisional Commander for Brighton and Hove, extended sympathies to the family of the deceased sisters, acknowledging the profound impact of the tragedy on the local community and beyond. Sussex Police assured a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, with the family’s well-being as a top priority.

The investigation will be conducted meticulously, focusing on understanding the events leading to the tragic loss. The authorities have requested privacy for the grieving family as they cope with the heartbreaking loss.
