Russia has initiated significant retaliatory strikes against Ukraine overnight and this morning, resulting in nearly 20 wounded individuals, including children. This was a forceful reaction to Ukraine’s earlier large-scale drone attacks on Russia’s infrastructure. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has cautioned about intensified deep-strike assaults on Russia’s industrial facilities and fuel reserves. The retaliatory strikes by the Kremlin have primarily targeted the city of Dnipro, causing fires and multiple casualties, with the attacks commencing late Sunday and continuing into Monday morning. Local authorities reported 18 injuries in Dnipro, including two children, who are currently under medical care. Earlier, Ukraine had launched deep strike drone attacks on Russian sites, such as a microchip factory and an oil pumping station. Ukraine’s focus is on disrupting Vladimir Putin’s military efforts by targeting energy supplies and essential technology for weaponry. President Zelensky defended the strikes as a justified response in hitting Putin’s ability to wage war on civilians and infrastructure in Kyiv. Zelensky highlighted the strategic impact of the Ukrainian attacks on Russia, prompting a shift in attitudes towards the conflict. Ukrainian forces have targeted various Russian positions, including crucial industrial sites near Moscow like the Angstrom company in Zelenograd and the Solnechnogorsk pumping station, which supplies fuel to Russian forces. Additionally, Ukrainian forces have attacked Russian command posts and troop positions in different regions. The latest operations involved the use of Ukrainian-made drone systems like the RS-1 “Bars,” FP-1 “Firepoint,” and BARS-SM “Gladiator.” The Bars-SM drone is known for its efficiency, with a wingspan of two yards and the capability to carry explosives over long distances. Ukraine’s prowess in weapon manufacturing has tilted the battle advantage towards Kyiv.
