A tragic incident occurred as a 38-year-old swimmer was fatally attacked by a 13ft great white shark near Perth, Australia. The man was swiftly brought to shore following the attack, but despite efforts by paramedics, he could not be saved.

Authorities confirmed the shark bite, prompting a warning for increased vigilance in the waters of the area. The man was reported to have been bitten while swimming at Horseshoe Reef on Rottnest Island.

This unfortunate event marks the first fatal shark attack in Western Australia since the previous year, highlighting the risks associated with ocean activities. With over 1,300 recorded shark attacks since 1791, around 260 of them have ended tragically.

Surf Life Saving WA reported the presence of a large shark near the site of the attack, and a formal report is set to be submitted for further investigation. Rottnest Island, a popular tourist spot, is now under scrutiny following this deadly encounter.
