Leaked intelligence reports have revealed that Vladimir Putin is allegedly planning a potential attack on NATO territory in the Baltics, as disclosed by Volodymyr Zelensky. The Russian leader is reportedly strategizing an offensive maneuver from Belarus, a key ally, with the possibility of targeting important decision-making centers in Kyiv. This scheme could pose a threat to neighboring countries like Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia, which share borders with Belarus.
Zelensky stated, “Russia is contemplating military operations towards the southern and northern borders of Belarus – either to target the Chernihiv-Kyiv region in Ukraine or to directly strike a NATO member state from Belarusian territory.” The Suwalki Gap, a narrow passage connecting NATO nations Poland and Lithuania, is identified as a vulnerable point within the alliance. Both Lithuania and Latvia have bolstered their borders with Belarus and Russia in response.
Expressing concern, Zelensky emphasized, “We are monitoring Russia’s efforts to involve Belarus further in the conflict against Ukraine.” Referring to leaked Russian intelligence, he affirmed, “Ukraine will defend itself and its citizens staunchly if Alexander Lukashenko aligns with Russian intentions. We are resolute in protecting our land, sovereignty, and nation.”
Alleged classified Russian documents outline multiple targets, including various political and military installations, Zelensky’s headquarters, and a state residence in the Kyiv area. Meanwhile, Ukraine reportedly launched significant strikes against Russia, causing destruction at the Azot chemical plant in Nevinnomyssk, crucial for supplying explosives and ammunition to the Russian military, and a massive inferno erupted at a plastics warehouse complex in Naberezhnye Chelny, Tatarstan.
In a retaliatory move, Russia reportedly targeted civilian sites in Odesa, with Governor Oleh Kiper reporting, “The enemy conducted a large-scale drone attack in the southern part of the Odessa region, resulting in damage to residential areas and port infrastructure, along with injuries.”
