A former pub owner who inherited Tony Martin’s £2.5 million estate is now willing to sell the notorious farmhouse where the fatal shooting of a teenage intruder occurred.

Jacqueline Wadsley, the recipient of Martin’s entire estate, has listed 164 acres of farmland surrounding the rustic property for sale in two parcels, priced at a total of nearly £1.4 million. One lot comprises 109.6 acres with a guide price of £918,000, while the other is a 54.47-acre plot valued at £460,000.

This decision comes shortly after the revelation that Jacqueline and her husband David have decided to abandon their plans to convert five barns on the land into ten new residences.

David Wadsley, who has been farming the land as a tenant, expressed that the choice was difficult but they believe it is the right decision in honor of Tony Martin. He emphasized the importance of proper farming of the land by capable individuals and mentioned the possibility of selling the buildings along with the farmland.

The couple’s initial proposal to convert the barns into homes was withdrawn following concerns raised by the council’s ecology officer regarding potential impacts on wildlife. The officer highlighted the need for ecological assessments to be conducted due to the presence of protected species in the vicinity.

The estate, including the farmhouse, was bequeathed to Jacqueline by Martin, who passed away last year at the age of 80. His decision to leave everything to her stirred some controversy, as it meant his brother received nothing from the estate.

Property agents describe the sale as an opportunity to acquire arable land and woodland, appealing to neighboring farmers interested in expansion. The farmland is in good condition, offering a promising investment opportunity for interested buyers.
