A woman went on a violent drunken spree on a TUI flight to Cuba, assaulting both passengers and cabin crew members. Zoe Alexander’s disruptive behavior, fueled by excessive brandy consumption, led to her being restrained until the plane landed. Her erratic actions included being verbally abusive, physically aggressive, and attempting to smoke on the flight.
During the nine-hour journey, Alexander’s behavior escalated, causing distress to fellow passengers and crew members. Despite repeated attempts to calm her down, she continued to be belligerent and confrontational. She even resorted to physically attacking cabin crew members, leading to the use of a restraining kit to control her.
The disruptive incident on the flight resulted in significant anxiety and fear among those onboard. Alexander’s aggressive outbursts included physical assaults, verbal threats, and attempts to light a cigarette. The disruptive behavior was so severe that Cuban police had to escort her off the plane upon landing.
In court, Alexander pleaded guilty to charges of being drunk on an aircraft and assault. Her legal team cited mental health issues and past trauma as contributing factors to her behavior. Despite pleas for leniency due to family responsibilities, the judge imposed a suspended sentence, along with rehabilitation and monitoring requirements.
The judge emphasized the seriousness of Alexander’s actions, labeling them as inexcusable and dangerous. While considering a custodial sentence as a deterrent, he opted for a suspended sentence with strict conditions. Alexander left court accompanied by her father, having been banned from traveling out of the UK and mandated to attend rehabilitation programs.
