A man, Marc Rieben, has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his wife, Kristina Joksimovic, a former Miss Switzerland finalist. The tragic incident occurred after a heated argument over their divorce on February 13, 2024. Rieben, 42, was found guilty of using a knife, jigsaw tool, and garden shears to viciously attack his partner, in addition to liquefying her remains in a blender.
The grim discovery of Kristina’s body parts was made by her father at her residence when she did not show up to collect her children. The brutal crime took place in the serene village of Binnigen, near Basel. Following a trial two years after the incident, Rieben was convicted and sentenced to life in prison.
During the sentencing, Judge Daniel Schmid remarked, “There are cases that blur the line between fiction and reality. This particular case has had a profound impact on our perception of reality. While no court ruling can ever compensate for the loss of a loved one, we, as a court, will always remember and cherish the memory of the victim.”
