A significant portion of the UK is expected to enjoy temperatures reaching up to 22C, as indicated by new weather forecasts. Areas including West Sussex, East Sussex, Surrey, Kent, London, and Essex are projected to experience highs of 22C by Friday evening, May 22, according to WXCharts data sourced from MetDesk.

The warmest temperatures are anticipated in sheltered inland regions away from the coastline, particularly in eastern Kent, around the Thames Estuary, parts of Essex and Suffolk, and areas near the Norfolk-Suffolk border. In southern England and south Wales, temperatures are forecasted to remain in the high teens.

Moving northward, slightly cooler but still relatively mild conditions are expected. Much of the Midlands is predicted to have highs in the late teens, while northern Wales, northern England, and Scotland are likely to see temperatures ranging from approximately 13C to 17C. Northern Ireland could experience slightly warmer weather with temperatures around 18C in certain areas.

Looking ahead from Thursday, May 14, to Saturday, May 23, the Met Office forecasts changeable and occasionally unsettled conditions at the beginning of the period, with intervals of rain or showers, including some heavy downpours, interspersed with drier spells. Towards the end of this period, there may be an increase in pressure towards the southwest, possibly leading to drier conditions in that region.

For the period spanning Sunday, May 24, through Sunday, June 7, the Met Office predicts a shift towards more settled weather compared to earlier in the month. While some rain and showers may persist, longer periods of fine and dry weather are expected. Temperature variations are likely to approach average levels, potentially becoming warm at times. Moving into June, a more mixed weather pattern is anticipated with intermittent rain and showers, interspersed with periods of drier weather.
