A British individual who departed from the hantavirus-infected cruise ship early is currently unaccounted for as health authorities endeavor to locate the person. Among the passengers who disembarked from the MV Hondius midway through the voyage was a female passenger who later passed away.

Upon docking at the secluded South Atlantic island of St Helena, a total of 29 individuals exited the vessel, including a Dutch woman who fell ill during subsequent travel and subsequently died. This woman was escorting the remains of her husband, who had died aboard the ship on April 11.

According to a spokesperson from the UK Health Security Agency, out of the seven Britons who left the cruise ship at St Helena on April 24, two are now in self-isolation in the UK, while four are still present on the island. Efforts are actively ongoing to locate the remaining individual who has not returned to the UK.

The spokesperson stated, “Four of these individuals are still in St Helena, and we are coordinating with local health authorities to provide guidance on contact management. The search continues for the seventh individual, who has not yet returned to the UK.”
