An eat-all-you-can establishment in Spain has decided to implement a new charge dubbed as the “vomit fee” for patrons who overeat to the point of sickness while dining at the restaurant. Sushi Toro, situated in Gelves near Sevilla, cited a rise in incidents where customers would consume excessively and then vomit, causing disruptions in the restaurant’s premises.
The management expressed concerns about the impact on the dining experience, hygiene, and staff operations due to the incidents involving patrons overindulging. They took to social media to address the issue, stating, “We have encountered numerous instances of customers continuously ordering and eating excessively to the point of vomiting. This has led to instances of vomit on tables and in the restrooms.”
To address this challenge, the restaurant announced the implementation of a fee for vomiting incidents. Sushi Toro, known for blending traditional and innovative culinary approaches, offers a buffet spread featuring dishes crafted with fresh ingredients and specialized culinary methods. Prices for the buffet range from €16.90 (£14.40) to €23.90 (£20.30), varying based on the day and time of visit.
In a bid to maintain service quality and hygiene standards, the restaurant’s management emphasized the dedication of their staff to timely order delivery and cleanliness. They encouraged diners to be mindful of their orders and consumption, apologizing for any inconvenience caused by the new policy.
The popularity of sushi in Spain has been on the rise in recent years, with an increasing number of diners opting for Asian seafood delicacies over traditional Spanish fish dishes.
