A young boy is fighting for his life following a distressing drowning incident at a hotel pool on a Spanish island.
The four-year-old was rescued from the swimming pool in southern Gran Canaria on Saturday afternoon and is currently in critical condition.
According to reports by The Sun, the boy experienced a severe drowning episode, prompting emergency crews to swiftly transfer him to a private medical facility in San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
Subsequently, due to his deteriorating condition, medical professionals decided to engage specialized rescue teams to move the child.
Responders from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) conducted a dramatic helicopter rescue to transport the child. The helicopter landed in a nearby school’s car park, where an ambulance awaited to rush the ailing child to Las Palmas.
Throughout the helicopter transfer to the hospital, the boy received continuous monitoring and care from a specialized team comprising a doctor and a nurse.
Upon arrival at the University Maternal and Child Hospital in Las Palmas, the boy was met by hospital staff and other emergency units, including pediatric specialists.
Authorities confirmed that the boy had displayed severe drowning symptoms before the emergency transfer and remains in a critical condition.
