A woman was reportedly sexually assaulted in daylight hours on Saturday morning.
The West Mercia Police disclosed that the incident occurred in an alleyway on The Tything between 6am and 8.30am the previous day.
Authorities have updated that a 23-year-old man has been taken into custody on suspicion of the assault. The individual remains under police supervision while investigations are ongoing, as per the Sun.
Trained officers are providing support to the victim, with additional police presence in the area to reassure residents and conduct further inquiries.
Detective Inspector Lisa Tibbits stated, “I understand that such an event can cause significant worry within the community, and I want to assure the public that a thorough investigation is currently underway.
“I urge anyone with information, no matter how small it may seem, to come forward and assist the authorities with their inquiries,” Tibbits continued.
“We currently have a suspect in custody as part of our investigation,” she added. “There will be heightened police activity in the vicinity as we progress with our inquiries, and specialized officers are aiding the victim.”
