Police responded to an incident at a primary school in Stoke-on-Trent where a student brought a kitchen knife onto the premises. Sandon Primary School in Meir issued a statement to parents regarding the incident, which occurred the previous day. The school is closed until May 11 due to the May Bank Holiday and scheduled inset days.

In the statement, the school confirmed that a pupil had the knife in a bag on school grounds, but staff promptly secured it without the need for a lockdown. The situation was handled safely, and after reviewing CCTV footage, it was determined that there was no threat to the safety of the students.

Authorities, including the police, were informed, and appropriate measures are being taken. The school emphasized that the safety and well-being of all students and staff are their top priority. The incident caused concern within the school community, and the school apologized for the limited communication due to ongoing involvement of external authorities.
