Ukraine Issues Stark Warning of Potential Tactical Nuclear Weapons Deployment by Russian President Putin
Ukrainian military commander Roman Kostenko has issued a grave warning, stating that Russia’s President Vladimir Putin is ready to utilize tactical nuclear weapons. Kostenko emphasized the urgency for Ukraine to enhance its preparedness for potential deployment of weapons of mass destruction.
Speaking to Ukrainian news outlet Channel 24, Kostenko expressed his belief that if Russia perceives defeat in the conflict, it may resort to using nuclear arms. He indicated that Russia could employ tactical nuclear weapons ranging from several to dozens of kilotons in yield, targeting military installations, troop concentrations, infrastructure, decision-making centers, and major cities.
In response, Kostenko has proposed legislation to segregate biological, chemical, and nuclear security strategies into distinct areas to elevate readiness levels for possible nuclear weapon use, citing the escalated Russian threat as a critical factor.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently announced a shift towards a new stage in the utilization of Ukrainian weaponry to counter Russia’s actions. The Ukraine Security Service (SBU) confirmed striking Transneft’s oil pumping and distribution facility in Perm, a crucial hub of Russia’s oil transportation system, causing significant damage to oil storage tanks.
The escalating conflict has triggered strong reactions from the Russian government, with Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov condemning the strikes on oil facilities as “terrorist attacks.” Additionally, the Russian Defence Ministry declared the exclusion of military cadets and equipment columns from this year’s Victory Day parade due to the ongoing operational situation.
