A man who fired shots at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in what appears to be an attempt to harm President Donald Trump sent a disturbing message to family members just before the incident unfolded. The individual, known as 31-year-old Cole Allen, forcefully entered the Washington Hilton during the prestigious annual event, bypassing security measures. Following gunshots, Trump, Melania Trump, and Vice President JD Vance were swiftly evacuated from the stage for safety. Although one officer sustained a gunshot wound, their protective vest prevented serious injury.

Authorities, including acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, suspect that the assailant aimed to target government officials present at the dinner, notably the President. Information from his sent manifesto, containing a self-given moniker, surfaced after he sent it moments before the shooting commenced.

In the manifesto shared with police by a family member, Allen expressed his rationale for the attack, citing his opposition to injustices committed by the administration. He detailed his plan to utilize buckshot instead of slugs to minimize collateral damage, emphasizing his determination to reach his designated targets within the crowd.

Identified targets in Allen’s manifesto were specified as administration officials, excluding FBI Director Kash Patel, with a clear denunciation of President Trump’s alleged misconduct. The document, spanning 1,052 words, bore Allen’s signature as “Cole ‘coldForce’ ‘Friendly Feseral Assassin’ Allen.” His family alerted authorities in Connecticut, leading to an investigation that revealed his intentions to target members of the Trump administration.

President Trump, commenting on the incident the morning after, described the shooter as harboring significant animosity, particularly towards religious beliefs. Allen, a resident of Torrance, California, is anticipated to face legal repercussions starting Monday. The suspect’s travel from California to Washington via Chicago, and his disruptive entrance into the event venue, were captured on video footage.

As the evening unfolded, an altercation ensued, resulting in gunfire, Trump’s swift removal from the stage, and a chaotic scene with attendees seeking shelter. Reports suggest Allen purchased the firearms he wielded within the past few years. Despite authorities’ attempts to gather information, he displayed a lack of cooperation during questioning.

Social media profiles aligned with the suspect depict him as an accomplished tutor and amateur video game developer. His educational background includes a master’s degree in computer science from California State University, Dominguez Hills, and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the California Institute of Technology. In college, he participated in Christian groups and engaged in recreational activities like Nerf gun battles.
