Two young children have tragically lost their lives in a devastating house fire that occurred in Wolverhampton. Responding to the incident in Mason Street around 8.30pm on Friday, West Midlands Police reported that firefighters managed to rescue the children from the burning house, but unfortunately, they were pronounced dead at the scene.

Ambulance medics administered advanced life support to the children, but their efforts were unsuccessful. Fortunately, two other children and a woman had already evacuated the house before emergency services arrived and were deemed medically stable after evaluation on-site.

The West Midlands Fire Service, with support from fire crews from Bilston, West Bromwich, and Bloxwich Fire Stations, dispatched six firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus to conduct the rescue operation. Following the successful retrieval of the children, immediate emergency care was provided.

The West Midlands Ambulance Service also mobilized a significant response team to the scene, including two ambulances, three paramedic officers, HART paramedics, a MERIT trauma team, and a critical care car from Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.

As investigations continue, the police have cordoned off the street to collaborate with emergency service partners in determining the exact circumstances of the tragic fire incident. In a joint statement, West Midlands Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service expressed their condolences to the family and all affected by the heartbreaking event.

Individuals with information pertinent to the incident are urged to contact the police via phone at 101 or through live chat, referencing log 5640 of April 24.
