Police have made a recent arrest related to the investigation involving Lucy Letby, the killer nurse. Cheshire Constabulary conducted a search at a property under a warrant and apprehended an individual on suspicion of obstructing justice. The person was later released on bail for further investigation.

Lucy Letby, aged 36 and from Hereford, is currently serving a sentence for murdering seven infants and attempting to murder seven others while working as a nurse at the neonatal unit in the Countess of Chester Hospital between June 2015 and June 2016. The arrested suspect is believed to have been a member of the hospital’s leadership team.

The police, in a statement released on Thursday, mentioned that the search was part of “Operation Duet,” an inquiry into corporate manslaughter and gross negligence manslaughter at the hospital. The individual arrested was suspected of perverting the course of justice and has been bailed while investigations continue.

Following criticisms from Sir David Davis in the House of Commons regarding the force’s conduct, Cheshire Constabulary defended its actions, stating that it has faced unwarranted scrutiny and misinformation from certain individuals. The force emphasized the importance of factual scrutiny in such cases.

Lucy Letby’s case is currently under review by the Criminal Cases Review Commission after her appeals against convictions were rejected in 2024.
