Tesco is set to offer complimentary beverages and snacks this weekend for customers stopping by at selected store parking lots. The supermarket is introducing exclusive Park & Pause spaces in ten of its locations on Saturday, April 11. Visitors will receive a complimentary Tesco Finest hot drink along with a biscuit.
Following the Easter holiday, Tesco aims to provide shoppers with a moment of relaxation, as research reveals that 42% of Britons seek solace by visiting supermarkets. Tesco representatives will deliver hot drinks directly to car windows at the designated Park & Pause spaces from 8am to 5pm, identified by a stopwatch symbol.
Statistics show that parents with children under four are more inclined to visit Tesco for some personal time, with 68% of them admitting to doing so compared to 38% of individuals without kids.
The introduction of the Park & Pause spaces aligns with Tesco’s latest campaign, “Need anything from Tesco?” This initiative follows a recent incident at Tesco in Kirkwall, Orkney, where the store gave away surplus bananas to local community groups and schools instead of discarding them.
Tesco’s gesture was well-received, with the bananas being distributed in line with the store’s community support policy. Additionally, the supermarket has increased hourly pay for thousands of employees, with a 5.1% raise to £13.28 per hour for shop workers and online fulfillment center staff.
Furthermore, employees in London received a pay increase, with their hourly rate reaching £14.55 within the M25 area. The Park & Pause spaces will be available at specific Tesco stores across the UK on April 11.
