A man who works as a zookeeper was taken into custody on suspicion of placing his spouse inside an animal incinerator. Authorities suspect that Tatsuya Suzuki brought his wife’s body to the zoo before cremating it in the facility designated for animal remains. Suzuki, aged 33, was apprehended by the police on Wednesday for the alleged act of mutilating a corpse.

Family members disclosed that Suzuki’s wife, identified as Yui Suzuki, was declared missing on April 23 after they lost communication with her in late March. On the same day, law enforcement reached out to the zoo and requested to interview Suzuki, who agreed to cooperate voluntarily.

Following Suzuki’s purported admission that he “disposed of my wife’s body in the incinerator,” law enforcement officers located portions of the 33-year-old woman’s remains.
