Emergency responders arrived at a campsite near a riverbank and discovered a 37-year-old woman with one deceased baby and the other twin, who was alive but in critical condition. Both the woman and the surviving baby received immediate medical attention before being transported to a hospital.
The distressing incident occurred at a makeshift homeless settlement near Wagga Beach in Wagga Wagga, Australia. This area has become a sanctuary amidst a local housing shortage, as per locals.
Reportedly, the mother had been residing in the tent with her partner for approximately five months. Authorities located her, noting that she had other children who did not live with her at the site.
Following the tragic news, speculations surfaced online, prompting the woman’s cousin, Beck Lee, to defend her online. Lee clarified that their family was unaware of the pregnancy or the birth. She emphasized that the woman has no history of substance abuse.
Lee disclosed that the mother had been escaping domestic violence and struggling to secure housing due to the housing crisis in the region. Despite her efforts, finding housing was challenging amidst overwhelming demand.
The mother has been discharged, while the surviving twin has been transferred to a hospital in Sydney. Police confirmed no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.
