The oldest identical twins in the UK, Bill and John Bowdler from Birmingham, have spent 82 years together, sharing the same lifestyle and jobs. Despite their strong bond, they differ in their preference for brown sauce on food. Born on March 21, 1944, the brothers have been inseparable since childhood, working in the same industries after leaving school in 1960.
Their closeness was evident when they both required cataract surgery on the same eye, which they underwent simultaneously at the same facility. Even in retirement, their routines remain synchronized, with John selecting their matching outfits daily. Their lifelong connection has kept them healthy and active, enjoying shared activities like grocery shopping, bingo, and supporting Aston Villa.
Although they enjoy identical meals, the only distinction between them is John’s dislike for brown sauce while Bill enjoys it liberally. Their parallel lives have surprised many, including opticians who discovered their shared need for eye surgery. The brothers’ strong bond has not only kept them together but has also contributed to their well-being and longevity, allowing them to stay vibrant and fit into their 80s.
