The upcoming weather forecast in the UK indicates the likelihood of cold spells and wintry showers by the end of April. Weather maps now suggest that up to 38 cities across the country could experience snowfall.

According to the GFS weather model, snow is expected to fall in the UK starting on April 28, beginning in northern Scotland before moving southwards towards London. The maps show heavy snowfall in the northeast of Scotland on April 28, with lighter flurries in other regions like southern Scotland, the Pennines, and parts of Northern Ireland. Simultaneously, rain is predicted in North Wales and along the east coast of England.

By April 29, snow is forecasted to spread across northern England, Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, while rain is expected in the far southeast. Subsequently, another band of snow is anticipated to move in from the west, affecting western England, including cities such as Manchester and Birmingham, with snow potentially reaching as far south as Bristol by April 30.

Although the snowfall in London on April 30 is expected to be lighter compared to earlier in the day in western regions, sporadic pockets of snow are likely to continue falling in Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, and various parts of England. The Met Office has mentioned the possibility of wintry showers impacting the UK later in April, with a brief cold spell on the horizon.

The Met Office’s forecast for April 22 to May 1 suggests that high pressure will dominate the weather patterns during this period, resulting in mostly dry conditions across the UK. However, there may be exceptions, including the potential for wintry showers in the north and east due to cold air sweeping across the country before transitioning to somewhat milder conditions.
