Temperatures are set to cool down soon after a blistering heatwave that brought unprecedented weather conditions to the UK. This week, the UK experienced its hottest June days ever, with record-breaking temperatures reaching 37.3C in Santon Downham, Suffolk.

Today, the Met Office forecasts peak temperatures of 33C in the south and 30C in the north. However, tomorrow is expected to be milder, with highs of 27C in the south and 23C in the north, signaling the end of the official heatwave conditions in most areas.

The heatwave threshold, ranging from 25C to 28C in different regions, determines the declaration of a heatwave after three consecutive days of high temperatures. Tomorrow, temperatures are expected to range from 21C in East Anglia to 13C in parts of Northern Ireland.

Met Office Chief Forecaster Andy Page mentioned a gradual shift in weather conditions, with the southeast of England retaining warmth the longest. Rain is expected in western Scotland and Northern Ireland today, with possible showers spreading south on Sunday.

Despite the possibility of thunderstorms, the southeast is likely to remain dry over the weekend. By Monday, temperatures are expected to return to average levels, providing a fresher feel across the country with sunny spells and light winds.
