Newly released weather maps reveal that the UK is on the brink of experiencing scorching temperatures reaching up to 36C.
Meteorologists predict a gradual rise in temperatures, with a significant heatwave expected to hit most parts of the country by Wednesday, August 12. The hottest regions are anticipated to be in the southern and eastern areas of England, particularly Cambridgeshire and Norfolk.
The latest WXCharts data displays predominantly bright red hues, indicating high temperatures. Weather experts from Metdesk, the source of the maps, suggest that the thermometer could soar to 36C around Wednesday, August 12.
During this period, temperatures are expected to widely surpass 30C, encompassing parts of the Midlands and northern England. Conversely, Scotland and Northern Ireland are likely to experience cooler conditions, with temperatures staying in the low to mid-20s across many areas.
Although the eastern regions will see the highest temperatures, Wales is forecasted to remain dry and sunny, albeit cooler. Swansea and its surroundings are projected to reach temperatures of 26C to 27C, for example.
Reports from the Express indicate that Monday saw warm weather, with a high of 33.5C recorded by the Met Office in Wisley, Surrey. However, rain is anticipated on Wednesday and Thursday, with heavier rainfall expected in Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland.
A yellow weather warning is currently in effect for thunderstorms in various areas including Angus, Perth and Kinross, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Moray, and Highland. The Met Office warns of possible disruptions due to slow-moving heavy showers and thunderstorms.

Despite the heatwaves, concerns have been raised about potential food price hikes and shortages due to the prolonged dry spell.
Tom Bradshaw, president of the National Farmers’ Union, has urged government support for the construction of reservoirs on farms as part of broader initiatives. He emphasized the importance of water security in ensuring food security and national stability.
The dry conditions have wreaked havoc for farmers, forcing many arable farmers to accelerate their wheat harvest by several weeks, in some cases marking the earliest harvest in at least two decades, affecting yields.
