Donald Trump is scheduled to meet with Volodymyr Zelensky and Benjamin Netanyahu separately at the White House today, following Zelensky’s recent claims of Russia aiding Iran in targeting US troops.
Both the Ukrainian president and Israeli prime minister are currently in Washington DC to pay their respects at Senator Lindsey Graham’s funeral, who passed away at the age of 71 earlier this month.
Zelensky has expressed his intention to discuss enhancing Ukraine’s anti-ballistic missile defenses with Trump. This decision comes after Zelensky disclosed intelligence suggesting Russia shared satellite data with Iran, facilitating Iran’s targeting of US military bases in the Middle East. Trump mentioned he will investigate the veracity of these claims and plans to address the issue with Putin.
Following his meeting with Zelensky, Trump will engage in discussions with Netanyahu. This meeting marks Trump’s first face-to-face encounter with the Israeli prime minister since the US-Israeli conflict with Iran commenced on February 28.
Volodymyr Zelensky took to social media early this morning to announce his arrival in the US.
“Our itinerary includes meetings with President Trump, his team, and other supporters of our defense efforts,” stated the Ukrainian president in a post online.
Emphasizing the significance of anti-ballistic defense and strategic collaboration with America, Zelensky emphasized the importance of advancing peace initiatives.
“Since the start of July, we have observed heightened Russian satellite surveillance of the Gulf states and US military installations in the region,” mentioned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a statement on X last Saturday.
“These satellite images later surface in Iran, showing a clear link between Russia’s surveillance and Iranian military actions – both pre-attack, during planning, and post-strike for damage assessment.”
